Learning to Drive Manual - 7 months In

Okay, let's set the scene. Imagine this is said in a voiceover by someone wonderful and wise like, Judi Dench. Yes, Judi. It has to be British, because I'm living in Britain and I'm learning to drive a manual car which feels very British...

JUDI: The end was in sight. She could see it. In roughly one week Kat will take her manual driving exam. An exam where only 18% pass the first time, or so her instructor reminded her during last weeks lesson. But she will NOT let this rumble her. She has passed before. In two countries, in fact: the U.S. and the U.K. And so she's gearing herself up, despite having cried during her lesson because she pulled out too soon on a hill start which would've resulted in a fail. Yes, Kat is going in confident. 

KAT: (looking in the mirror) I can do this!

JUDI: And so with an open heart and a bowl of berries, because they're full of flavonoids and help focus, Kat looks out into the world ready to show the world how cautious and safe she can be on the road of life!

KAT: No, the roads of Britain. Life should be bigger!

JUDI: Ah yes. On the roads of Britain! Girl, you totally got this.

KAT: Omg, Judi! Thanks

Truth be told, I'm nervous. There is just so much to think about when you're driving a manual car. Gear changes, roundabouts, hill starts, clutch control. I need to remember to be gentle with myself. I believe I'm a great driver. I am. I just need to remember to be cautious during my exam, because I am a cautious driver, but even I know mistakes happen.
