Meet the Edinburg North HS Choir

Excellence is the defining characteristic of the Edinburg North Choir Department, a legacy started by the late David B. Custer who established the program when the school opened back in 1991. Under the leadership of director, and ENHS alumnus, Claudio Esquivel, the program has fostered 102 students into the prestigious TMEA All-State ensembles. (A quarter of that under the direction of Mr. Esquivel!) The ENHS Choir is a consistent high achiever in UIL Concert and Sight-Reading, reflecting its commitment to quality. This dedication is shared by the entire Edinburg CISD Fine Arts Department, which holds national distinction as a NAMM Foundation “Best Community for Music Education.”

The choir progam has produced an impressive group of alumni who have gone on to excel in music, the arts, and education. From Broadway to opera houses, universities and classrooms, ENHS choir alumni continue to leave their mark, reflecting the power and impact of the legacy.

Join me as I return to my alma mater, Edinburg North High School, for a special one-night-only performance with Jose Hernandez. Featuring Mariachi Oro de ENHS and the ENHS Choir, this is the first stop on my international tour.

We will be celebrating the works of legendary composers like Mozart, Schubert, and Stephen Sondheim with Christmas classics we know and love like “The Christmas Waltz” and “My Favourite Things” and a special rendition of “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”.
